I am a chemist by training (undergrad at TU Munich and EPFL) but realized that in order to solve some of the most pressing challenges we must make chemistry much more efficient:
Currently, chemists spent a large chunk of their replicating failed experience and just gathering experience.
I think we can address this information-bottleneck with data-driven methods and have been focussing on this since my Ph.D. in the group of Berend Smit at EPFL. Following short (<1 month) PostDoc at EPFL, I joined the FSU Jena as a research group leader (as of mid June 2023), where I am also member of the Center for Energy and Environmental Chemistry Jena and the Jena Center for Soft Matter.
I also co-lead the ChemNLP project, with support from OpenBioML.You can reach me on
and meet me in the E011 office in the new AWZ/CEEC II building at Lessingstrasse 12-14 (07743 Jena).
I am easiest to contact via email.

I obtained my BSc in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Then, I pursued my MSc in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling at the same institution. It was during these academic pursuits that I was introduced to the captivating world of Artificial Intelligence applied to scientific research.
Beyond academia, I am an enthusiastic cinephile.

Having an intense interest in math from high school, I chose engineering as my career. After that, I have developed my skills in programming and always wanted to work on simulation and modelling in molecular level, I started my master studies in chemistry of materials at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
