Research Program

The Arndt laboratory develops and applies synthetic chemistry of organic molecules in the context of biofunctional reason. Organic synthesis is exclusively positioned to access unique molecules for addressing the macromolecular targets of the cell. For research innovation as well as for optimal training of students and postdocs, synthesis-driven research campaigns are interfaced with functional studies in biochemistry and molecular biology (in-house and in collaboration). We believe in organic molecules for Synthesis and Chemical Biology!

By integrating enabling methods, molecular synthesis, peptide and oligomer research, and functional testing for the generation of biological modulator compounds, we pursue three major goals:

Roti
Tool compounds
For the discovery of biological modulators we draw inspiration from bioactive natural products and Nature's oligomeric ligands, both of which have adapted to evolutionary pressures and can hence be considered platform molecules
