Geological collection
Geological collection
The most complete geological regional collection in Thuringia has existed since 1779 and comprises about 50,000 objects. The rocks, minerals and fossils have been collected since the 18th century.
In the stratigraphic collection, 15 showcases provide an overview of the development of the earth and life. Several small showcases provide information about the geological structure of Thuringia. The collection is intensively used for the education of students of geosciences and biogeosciences.
